By The Numbers: Agilan Thani vs. Hiroyuki Tetsuka

The rush to acquire prime real estate near the top of the One Championship welterweight division creates an environment conducive to conflict.

Malaysian standout Agilan Thani will take on former Pancrase champion Hiroyuki Tetsuka at One Championship “NextGen 2” on Friday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, where the two men are scheduled to jockey for position in a pivotal three-round catchweight battle at 190 pounds. Once regarded as a prospect on the rise, Thani has instead spun his wheels and lost four of his past six bouts. He last competed at One Championship “Big Bang 2,” as he dropped a unanimous verdict to Tyler McGuire in their Dec. 11 pairing. Tetsuka, meanwhile, has rattled off five wins in six outings. He last appeared on Oct. 30, 2020, when he wound up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision against Murad Ramazanov at One Championship “Inside the Matrix 3.”
