Akhmed Magomedov (10-0, 0-0 PFL) vs. Nathan Kelly (11-2, 4-0 PFL)

Kelly is one of SBG Ireland’s most exciting prospects. After dropping his first two bouts, the Dublin featherweight rattled off an 11-fight winning streak and most recently cemented himself as an explosive threat with three consecutive first-round finishes. Kelly makes great use of his upper body on the mat and is always looking to secure an arm-triangle. Kelly has solid striking skills and uses elbows and knees creatively. Magomedov, meanwhile, hails from Dagestan and brings a strong wrestling background to the table but shows little interest in striking. His limited ability was showcased in his last fight when he dropped a decision on Henry Corrales. Magomedov bothered Corrales when he clinched with him, but on the outside, he was limited to throwing wide haymakers. Kelly must avoid surrendering control time if he wants to win this one. He’s the more skilled and explosive striker, but he could be stifled and frustrated if he allows Magomedov a shot at his legs. Kelly’s versatility will serve him well as the fight heads into the third round, and as long as he gives himself the distance needed to work, he should find success catching Magomedov in between his punches.
