Trio of 154-Pound World Champions on Display on Showtime Oct. 14

Showtime and Premier Boxing Champions announced on Wednesday that three world champions at junior middleweight/super welterweight will be on full display on Oct. 14 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Erislandy Lara, Jermell Charlo and Jarrett Hurd will all defend their titles against excellent opposition in a Showtime Championship Boxing tripleheader.

Lara (24-2-2, 14 KOs), one of the best pure boxers in the Sweet Science, will anchor the event as he puts his WBA 154-pound title on the line against 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha (20-0, 9 KOs). It will be the biggest test for Gausha, who hasn’t taken on anybody with the skills of Lara up to this point, though he’s looked sensational since turning pro. Lara has won five straight bouts since dropping a split decision to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez three years ago and has his sights on unifying the division.

“I'm very excited to be making another title defense back on Showtime headlining a great tripleheader,” said Lara. “This is an interesting fight versus an undefeated U.S. Olympian in Gausha. I know he will be ready because it's his opportunity to beat the best fighter in the division and become a champion. But come fight night, he will quickly realize and know why I'm the consensus No. 1 super welterweight in the world. After this performance, I look forward to, one-by-one, adding a WBC and IBF title to my collection.”

Charlo (29-0, 14 KOs) will make the second defense of his WBC 154-pound belt when he collides with Erickson Lubin. The pairing of unbeaten young lions could be the highlight of the night as both Charlo and Lubin (18-0, 13 KOs) have laid every man they’ve face to waste.

Opening up the telecast will see Hurd (20-0, 14 KOs) defend his IBF super welterweight crown for the first time when he takes on former world champion Austin Trout (30-3, 17 KOs).

The action will be televised live on Showtime beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
