Sullivan Pulled from UFC on Fox 20 Due to Potential Anti-Doping Policy ‘Compliance Issue’

Welterweight George Sullivan has been pulled from his bout against Hector Urbina at UFC on Fox 20 due to a potential “compliance issue” with the UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy.

The UFC released a statement announcing Sullivan’s removal on Thursday:

UFC competitor George Sullivan voluntarily disclosed information to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) that could pose a potential compliance issue with the UFC Anti-Doping Policy. Out of an abundance of caution, Sullivan has been removed from his scheduled bout on Saturday night against Hector Urbina while USADA conducts an investigation into the matter.

Urbina will still weigh in as a potential backup opponent should there be a need for him to compete in another bout on Saturday. Otherwise, he will be re-booked for another card in the near future.

Further details as to why Sullivan was unable to compete were unavailable. UFC on Fox 20 takes place at the United Center in Chicago and is headlined by a bantamweight clash between Holly Holm and Valentina Shevchenko. The card will move forward with 11 bouts.

Sullivan, 35, last competed at UFC on Fox 18 on Jan. 30, when he suffered a first-round KO loss to Alexander Yakovlev. The New Jersey native is 3-2 during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion and 17-5 as a professional overall.
