UFC 212 Betting: It’s Time for Jose Aldo to Retake the Throne

(SPONSORED CONTENT) -- The main event in UFC 212 betting is a Featherweight Championship match between two title holders. Jose Aldo is the promoted champ, while Max Holloway is the interim champion. The world of mixed martial arts will have the definitive featherweight god in place once the dust settles this Saturday, June 3rd from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and bet on the best fight lines out there with Betonline.ag!

UFC FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MAIN EVENT
Jose Aldo -145 over Max Holloway +125

One punch in thirteen seconds. That’s all it took to dethrone the former, top-ranked fighter on the pound-for-pound rankings. This is the world we live in, and the reality that has been crushing Jose Aldo for well over a year.

Aldo has since recovered from that devastating left hand that’s attached to the end of Conor McGregor’s arm, mauling Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 for the interim UFC Featherweight Championship. Since being promoted to the organization’s official UFC Featherweight Championship, Aldo will now seek to unify the title against Max Holloway, who is lugging around another interim UFC Featherweight Championship of his own.

Coincidentally, the last time either man lost was when they had to deal with Conor McGregor. Holloway encountered Notorious in August 2013 at a UFC Fight Night and was able to at least stay on his feet for three straight rounds, losing a decision. Since then, Holloway has rocketed up the charts with a ten-fight win streak that’s included multiple Performances of the Night bonuses.

One of the elements of Holloway’s attack that fans love is his hunger for the knockout, and this is why he’s gaining traction in the sportsbook over at Betonline.ag for the upset. The memory of Aldo getting disheveled by McGregor is still very fresh in everyone’s minds.

But I would urge people to block that memory from influencing your UFC 212 betting plays. It wasn’t long before losing to McGregor that Aldo was considered the best of the best. Known for his tactical approach to fights these days, it’s easy to forget that Aldo entered the UFC with an eight-fight win streak in the WEC that included seven knockouts.

Aldo not only has it all, he never lost it in the first place.

This isn’t meant by any stretch to discredit the fine work that Holloway has accumulated over the last three years. However, there was a time when bets on Jose Aldo were automatic. Hell, even when he faced McGregor, it was still considerably difficult to convince yourself to bet against Aldo.

UFC 212 represents an opportunity for Aldo to once again lay unimpeachable claim to the division that he has tortured since migrating to the top league in 2011. After his vindictive embarrassment of Frankie Edgar from last December at UFC 200, I believe firmly that the Aldo we all knew and loved is back on his feet.

That’s bad news for Max Holloway, and great news for Aldo fans. It’s rare that we ever see a fight line this tight on him. Rake the oddsmakers before they make they realize the value that they’re offering you.

Besides, do you really think Aldo is doing to lose in front of a packed house of his own people?

Nate Marquardt +140 over Vitor Belfort -160

While they may be the two most well known fighters on the undercard of UFC 212, there’s no doubt that both are on the decline. Beflort has much higher profile wins by comparison, but each competitor carries 2-4 SU records in to this bout. I’m taking a chance on Marquardt’s power being the closer on an overreaching Belfort. Power is just one of those things that doesn’t regress the same way other elements of a fighter’s strengths tend to.

Yancy Medeiros -143 over Erick Silva +123

The odds on this fight have been dropping heavily towards the side of Medeiros, who continues to prove that his true destiny in the sport is at welterweight. What started out as an even money affair on both sides has now dipped considerably in favor of Medeiros. Follow the herd.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz +285 over Claudia Gadelha -345

The big problem here? I don’t believe at all that the gap between Gadelha and Kowalkiewicz is as big as the oddsmakers are trying to suggest. I’m pushing for a brave standalone win bet here for the underdog in what’s sure to be an absolutely entertaining punch out.

Paulo Borrachinha -300 over Oluwale Bamgbose +220

Unlike the women’s strawweight bout also featured on the main card, this is the only straightforward fight of the night. You certainly have to lean heavily in order to make a bet on Borrachinha count, but if you’re asking for a winning play then this is the easiest call in all of UFC 212 betting.
