Peek vs. Campbell

Lightweights

Trevor Peek (9-1, 1 NC) vs. Charlie Campbell (8-2)

Odds: Campbell (-205), Peek (+170)

This one is clearly matched for action, and hopefully it delivers on that promise. Peek immediately became a cult favorite upon earning a contract on the Contender Series in 2022; with a game built around wild aggression and little technical acumen, Peek's fights reliably descended into madness that would usually result in Peek finding a knockout before tiring himself out. That held true in a successful UFC debut against Erick Gonzalez, but Peek finally found his ceiling against Jose Mariscal last June; the result was still a wildly entertaining war, but Mariscal was able to stand up to Peek's offense early on and eventually work his way to a decision victory. Then there was Peek's October victory over Mohammed Yahya, a worrying sign in terms of the magical violence that Peek brings to the cage; faced with an opponent focused on neutralizing Peek's offense, Peek consented to a slow-paced fight and put together a workmanlike win that was shockingly unmemorable. It remains to be seen if this is part of a greater effort for Peek to become a more technical fighter, but for now, Campbell should be able to lure Peek into a war. Long Island's Campbell has a game focused on violence, marching forward in the hopes of blasting his opponent in close range; that worked well on the regional scene, but his 2022 appearance on the Contender Series was a bit worrying, as Chris Duncan was able to come back from the brink of defeat and obliterate Campbell in kind. But Campbell eventually worked his way back to a late-notice UFC callup a year later and took apart Alex Reyes to earn this shot at Peek. Campbell's more intentional game could serve him well, but this figures to quickly descend into a shot-for-shot war; Campbell might have better technique, but Peek has both power and durability on his side. The pick is Peek via first-round knockout.
