People seem to love to hate Brock Lesnar. | Photo: Sherdog.com

In a little less than four years with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Brock Lesnar energized a sport, captured the heavyweight crown and established himself as the biggest box office draw in mixed martial arts.

Lesnar walked away from MMA competition following a UFC 141 defeat to onetime Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem in December 2011 and has since returned to World Wrestling Entertainment in a part-time capacity. Rumors of a potential return to the UFC circulate from time to time, but for now, he seems content to remain retired.

Love him or hate him, no one can argue with his accomplishments. Lesnar won the UFC heavyweight championship in just his fourth professional fight, stopping hall of famer Randy Couture on second-round punches in November 2008. He went on to successfully defend the title twice, besting Frank Mir in their rematch at UFC 100 and toppling Shane Carwin in come-from-behind fashion at UFC 116. Health woes slowed Lesnar, as he weathered repeated run-ins with diverticulitis, which included surgery to remove roughly a foot of his colon.

Few men have polarized the masses like the hulking four-time NCAA All-American wrestler. To this day, Lesnar remains a popular subject in MMA circles, including the Sherdog.net forums:
