Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by MMAWeekly.com lead writer Damon Martin.
With former UFC title challenger Kenny Florian announcing his retirement, Breen and Martin reflect on the career of “KenFlo.” The pair note the unusual amount of peripherally interesting stories about even the most pedestrian Florian fights, Florian’s early position as a whipping boy due to “Ultimate Fighter” backlash and how his first challenge against Sean Sherk may have changed the course of his career.
Breen and Martin also contemplate how Florian’s career impacts the MMA community’s thoughts about weight cutting and whether or not the now-full-time commentator and broadcast analyst will serve as an inspiration for more MMA fighters to try to crossover to realms outside the cage.
